Breaking News: ADPH Rule Change
Call to Action: November 17, 2021, at 2 p.m.
ADPH has recently released purposed rules related to radiation control for the healing arts which is problematic for CRNPs, PAs, and CNMs. Under the current rule, CRNPs, PAs, and CNMs are permitted to “authorize” (order) x-ray, CT, fluoro services for the patients. However, the purposed rule appears to limit the authorization of these services to “licensed practitioners” who are defined as physicians, chiropractors, dentists, and podiatrists.
Rule number 420-3-26-.06 , entitled Medical Diagnostic and Interventional X-ray and Imaging Systems, was posted for public comment, and a public hearing is set for Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the ADPH Administrative annex, Training Room B, 208 Legends Court, Prattville, AL 36066. We need a good show of force for the public hearing. In addition, NPs and their CPs are strongly encouraged to, either verbally or in writing, voice their concerns for the impact this will have on their practice and access to care for Alabamians to David Tuberville, Office of Radiation Control, Department of Public Health, PO Box 303017, Montgomery, AL 36130-3017 or 334-290-6244 by Friday, December 3, 2021
